Meinke Flesseman grew up in the Algarve surrounded by animals, nature and simplicity. These sources of inspiration are evident in her vibrant, figurative work that is characterised by layered textures, depths and intensity in the colours, taking the audience on an emotional and sensorial journey.
Meinke is well known for her playful series of goat paintings. “The goats bring me good memories and good feelings, so they are a recurring element in my work. It represents a longing for simplicity and wellbeing, which I associate them with. They all look similar, but they have their own personalities, cheekiness, independence and ways of being”.
