We have always looked to the arts for beauty and transformation. Over the years, we have had the joy and privilege of collaborating with artists and makers, whose essence and aesthetics elevate many daily rituals of self care. Meetings of art and scent, of colour and soul.
Our Roseum range is wrapped in “Flamingos” by Dutch fine artist Meinke Flesseman, their graceful stance representing elegance and resilience, and expressing the balancing properties that are central to the concept and ingredients of our Rosēum blend.
We are delighted to continue our creative journey with Meinke who has become a dear friend and collaborator. Raised amidst the sunlit landscapes of the Algarve, Meinke’s path has taken her across the world, studying jewellery making in Italy, fine art in Moscow and Amsterdam, and then returning to Portugal where she has established herself as a prolific artist working, often on large scale, with different mediums including water colours, oils, acrylics and ceramics.
Meinke’s work reflects her deep connection with the quiet rhythm between land, people, animals and elements. Layered and textured, her canvases carry a vibrant, emotional depth. Goats wander, swimmers immersed, sunlight shimmers. Shadows and impressions, soft yet sharp observations of humankind in everyday moments. Simplicity, freedom, movement and the natural world.
By now we go back a long way. In 2019 Meinke’s Water Series featured on our Rosēum Salts packaging, and in 2023, we collaborated on a limited edition of products featuring her Swimmers and Goats - both among extensive bodies of work that Meinke has explored over the years. This year we co-created the unique products for our Portuguese Edition, created in situ at the Six Senses Douro Valley. Her Dragonfly Series also adorn our Linden collection.
If you find yourself in the Algarve, a visit to Meinke’s immersive gallery in historic Portimão is a must. Housed in a breathtaking old palace on Rua Infante Dom Henrique that she renovated, Galleria Meinke Flesseman spans multiple connected spaces. Meinke’s works are on display, and the space is a hub of artistic energy, hosting regular exhibitions of other artists’ works, workshops, concerts and retreats.
